Course Overview
Cyprus International University (CIU) offers comprehensive programs in Business Administration and Economics through its Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. These programs are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers in the global business and economic landscape.
Business Administration Program:
• Objective: The program aims to educate students to become successful individuals who can contribute to the development of the country; adapt to the competitive environment; have an analytical and observer frame of mind; are equipped with the required professional knowledge and skills; and have good communication skills.
• Curriculum: The curriculum has been prepared by considering the effects of economic, social, and technological developments in businesses. Students are taught micro and macroeconomic formations and learn to recognize the behavioral sciences related to individuals and society. They learn the processes of production, marketing, finance, human resources, accounting, research and development, and public relations, and how they apply to businesses and the strategies practiced in these areas. Courses are taught in English, and students also have the option to take elective language courses such as German, French, Italian, and Russian, allowing them to receive preference in the environment of global competition.
• Accreditation: The Business Administration program’s international quality assurance standards were evaluated by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) until 2027 and accredited.
• Career Opportunities: Graduates can pursue careers in various fields such as marketing, banking, finance, accounting, operational/production management, and management and organization at different levels of businesses. The program also prepares students for further studies, including master’s and doctorate degrees, potentially leading to academic careers.
Economics Program:
• Objective: The Economics department aims to teach basic economics and analysis techniques to university students. It also aims to develop students’ research, analysis, and evaluation skills. Individuals who graduate from this program are given the title of “Economist.”
• Curriculum: The curriculum integrates economic theory and policies with the practices of the business world, aiming to create a solid economic foundation. Students are supported by theoretical and applied field courses, including subjects like Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Environmental Economics, Money and Banking, Political Science, International Economics, Statistics, Development Economics, and History of Economic Thought.
• Career Opportunities: Graduates have a wide range of career opportunities in sectors such as banking, stock market, sales and marketing, education, real estate, public services, information and communication, and economic consultancy. They can find jobs in any sector where there is a trade and shopping relationship, in both public and private sectors.
Postgraduate Programs:
• Master of Business Administration (MBA): This program aims to provide individuals who want to be successful in a global competitive environment with the opportunity to acquire essential knowledge and skills. Courses are designed to teach the knowledge required for a professional management career in both public and private sectors.
• Economics (MSc): The master’s program in Economics aims to prepare students with competence in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistical methods knowledge. The program specializes in environment and energy economics, political economy, and development economics.
• Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA): This program is designed for professionals who would like to broaden their knowledge, expand their expertise, and develop research skills with a focus on theoretical knowledge and its use in business practice.
