Program Overview:

The MD program at GAU is a six-year medical education pathway designed to prepare future physicians through a strong foundation in basic sciences, followed by extensive clinical training. The program combines theoretical knowledge, early patient contact, and international partnerships that provide additional academic and clinical exposure.

Years 1–2 (Basic Medical Sciences):

Year 3 (Transitional Year):

Year 6 (Internship Year):

• One-year supervised internship covering:

  • Family Medicine

  • Internal Medicine

  • Surgery

  • Pediatrics

  • Emergency Medicine

  • Elective Rotations

• Conducted in collaboration with affiliated hospitals in Turkey (e.g., Mersin University)

International Pathway Option:

Students who complete their first two years at GAU with satisfactory academic performance may be eligible to transfer to international medical universities (e.g., UHSA in Antigua) for the final four years, broadening global exposure and licensure options.

Admission Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent with strong grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Math

• English language proficiency through IELTS, TOEFL, or university’s own English exam

• Students not meeting the language criteria may be placed in a preparatory English program

Facilities:

• Modern lecture halls, dissection labs, and basic science laboratories

• Medical simulation labs with mannequins and virtual training systems

• Clinical skills center for patient examination and communication practice

• Library access to international medical journals and databases

Career Opportunities:

Graduates are awarded the title of Medical Doctor (MD) and can:

• Enter residency programs in hospitals locally or internationally

• Work in clinics, hospitals, research institutions, or public health organizations

• Specialize in medical disciplines or continue with postgraduate studies (MSc, PhD)

Graduates must pass the licensing or board exams required in the country where they wish to practice (e.g., USMLE, PLAB, TUS, etc.).
