Program Overview:

The Architecture program at EMU is a professionally-oriented degree that blends creativity, technical skills, and critical thinking. It prepares students to design innovative, sustainable, and human-centered spaces while understanding cultural, environmental, and technological dimensions of architecture. The curriculum encourages experimentation, research, and hands-on design experience.


Program Structure:

Years 1–2 (Foundation Phase):

  • Basic Design Studio

  • Graphic and Visual Communication

  • Mathematics and Geometry for Designers

  • Architectural Drawing and Presentation Techniques

  • History of Art and Architecture

  • Introduction to Design Technology

  • Materials in Architecture

  • Freehand Drawing

Years 3–4 (Professional Phase):

  • Advanced Architectural Design Studios

  • Environmental Control and Building Systems

  • Urban Planning and Design

  • Architectural Theory and Criticism

  • Construction and Structural Systems

  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and BIM Tools

  • Electives (Interior Design, Landscape, Heritage, etc.)

  • Graduation Project and Portfolio


Facilities:

  • Spacious architectural design studios

  • Model-making workshops with tools and materials

  • Computer labs with design and simulation software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, etc.)

  • Exhibition and critique spaces for student work

  • Architecture library with specialized books, magazines, and digital resources

  • Printing and 3D modeling equipment for presentations and prototypes


Admission Requirements:

  • High school diploma with strong grades in Math and Science

  • Artistic or design background is an advantage but not mandatory

  • English language proficiency through IELTS, TOEFL, or EMU’s own placement test

  • Students not meeting the language requirement can enter the English Preparatory Program


Career Opportunities:

Graduates of the program are qualified to work as:

  • Professional Architects in private or public sectors

  • Urban planners, restoration specialists, or interior architects

  • Consultants in sustainable design or environmental architecture

  • Designers in construction, real estate, or architectural visualization firms

  • Researchers or academics (after postgraduate studies)

Graduates may also continue with a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) or other specialized postgraduate degrees in design, planning, or heritage conservation.
